A well-signposted network of paths, numerous farmed alp lodges and many easy hikes make the Salzburger Pongau a true hiking paradies for families. Some of the villages of the Pongau are located in the Hohe Tauern National Park. In most holiday destinations mountain lifts allow reaching the starting point for many hikes.
In the GATE project Salzburg Research, in collaboration with SalzburgerLand Tourismus, has developed the website Kinderleicht Wandern im Pongau (www.kinderleicht-wandern.net). The website provides information about 82 easy hikes in the Pongau region, 35 of which also useable with a stroller. Furthermore, some attractions such as children’s zoos and playgrounds are included.
Users need only a device (mobile, tablet, desktop) with a web-browser, no download of an app is necessary. Trails and other attractions can be searched and selected on a map or using a list of filters. Trail information includes location, place of start/end, duration, length, difference in altitude, etc. and a downloadable map of the hike. Users can also rate hikes and upload own information such as comments and images.
